The Professor Has a Purpose!

Alyssa found this while hunting around on Central: Inyanga's Training Point Quests. I was thrilled at the line "Would you like a jelly baby?" The Doctor really says that.
However,  if Amy is correct, after doing the quest the Professor seems to vanish! She was not happy about that.
The Professor's cosmic device is based off of the sonic screwdriver. I wish they had a Dalek-based villian... Maybe next world?

The Awesome Music Scrolls

A few days ago I discovered the music player and the music scrolls. I bought one player, one Wizard City main theme, and one Krokotopia main theme.
I fought Lord Bramble in Wysteria 10-20 times to get the Wysteria main theme; I finally got one last night. Alyssa got two. I fought the Jade Oni for the Mooshu main theme. Alicia got two of those. I got one as a drop and one from the bazaar, my favorite place to buy stuff.
I became familiar with the decorations market today. I managed to get one Marleybone main theme, a Grizzleheim main theme, and a Dragonspyre main theme.
I almost got a Celestia main theme and the Krokotopia theme four, but somebody else got them first.
Here's my assortment of music!

I was upset that I didn't get the Celestia scroll and persuaded Amy, Destiny, and Alyssa to fight Mithraya with me. We did the entire dungeon in about an hour, our fastest time yet. I have a thing for Mithraya. She's my favorite boss. Ptolemos, the moon guy in the same dungeon, is my second favorite. The Jade Oni takes third. I absolutely love Mithraya. Here she is, in all her fiery glory:
When the dungeon was over with, I found myself with no scroll and a bunch of stuff to sell. I went to the bazaar, sold my stuff, and ran through the list of decorations many a time. I found the Grizzleheim theme, bought it, and was content. Now I can't wait for that Celestia theme...
I also am curious to see how the Wintertusk music will be done, considering the different way it is set up. If we can get each song, I am farming whoever drops the Nordrilund one. I love that music. Actually, I love Wizard 101 music in general. It's phenomenal.

Here's the guide Alyssa, Alicia, and I have used to find the scrolls: Darkshadow1709's Guide to Music Scrolls. It currently is incomplete.

FINALLY!!!!!

Hello everybody, I am back after my blogging hiatus!
Zafaria was released yesterday. I am so happy that I can level up again!
Alyssa told me that there was someone new in Regent's Square, over by Scotland Yard. I went to investigate and found this:

Wizard 101 finally statisfied Doctor Who fans by adding in a Doctor-like character and an almost-TARDIS! I told Hunter. He came right over and geeked out with me.
I'm a touch disappointed that it's smaller on the inside, but I suppose it's the TARDIS's alternate version.

Here's a good shot of Hunter, the Professor, and me.
The really weird thing about this is that he isn't showing up on the map and that nothing-not even the wiki or Central- has anything on him! He has no quests and no current purpose! I'm wondering why he's here other than to enable all the Whovians out there to squeal in joy.
Here's me and the alternate version of Time Lords and TARDISes.
 The Professor has wings!
(If you noted, I stitched my level 60 gear with some basic stuff from Eloise in Mooshu and Dragonspyre. I also got two pairs of permanent orange fairy wings from a Wyvern's Hoard.)

Hmmm. The horse doesn't seem excited.
 SPARKLY!!!!!
There you have it: The Professor and his Telegraph box. Amy is hoping that we'll get a version to put in our houses. I think that would be amazing.
For a comparison of the Doctor from Doctor Who, here's a picture from Wikipedia:
It doesn't show it, but the Tenth Doctor (middle on the last row) has converse tennis shoes, like the professor. I immediately recognized the scarf, bow tie, trench coat, cane, and tennis shoes.
Here is a picture of the TARDIS, also from Wikipedia and  for comparison:

It isn't hard to tell that Kingsisle has geeks working on Wizard 101, is it?
I can't wait to see if we can go inside the Telegraph box, and find out why the Professor is in the Spiral!

A Storm Wizard Beats All (Especially with Treasure Cards)

I did the Labyrinth with Alicia and Amy tonight. Amy needed to get her last Obsidian Chest. Alicia had a blast (pun intended) going for mega hits. And I dished out my wide selection of treasure cards to assist her.
Good old Storm Lord never fails.
 ALICIA HAS THE POWER!!!!!!
I was feeling reeeeeally evil. Muhahahahaha.
Easy hit. I think it was in this fight that I declared, "my name is in i go mount toy a you killed my father prepare to die." Then I followed it up with "muhahahahaha."
As I tell Alicia: Boost, boost, boost, dead.
11,000 never hurts. That'll teach them to mess with us. (insert evil laugh that doesn't sound like a monkey screeching here)
This is where I pulled out my arsenal of storm treasure cards. We got nearly all boosts available in the whole game for storm. Now, if we'd had a balance wizard... And switched out Amy for a death one... Yeah, THEN we'd have had an epic hit. And if Alicia had criticaled.
Yes, this was NOT, I repeat, NOT a crictical hit. I expected it would only do around 100,000 damage- I was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off. Alicia also took screenshots of  her massive hit. She has something to brag about, doesn't she?

Breaking News: New World Announced!

Kingsisle just announced that the new world of Wysteria is on the test realm! We're apparently going to be visiting Wysteria if we're level 25+. At the heart of this vine-infested world is our rival school, Pigswick. Pigwiggle is holding a tournament that we're participating in. But once an important object at Pigswick is stolen, we have to defend Ravenwood's good name while finding it.
I regret to say that I don't have any screenshots (and neither do my friends) because I need crowns. But when I get them, I will get pictures posted!
I can't wait to defeat Pigsies... And see the houses (ooh, houses!).

Oh, yes. Kingsisle Free Games got updated yesterday. We can't get transformations anymore, same as rental mounts. That may mean permanent ones!! I don't know about the Fog Unicorn, but Amy Moongem did get an Evil Snowman pet and a Sorcery Stones game! This could be promising!
I'll keep you all updated about KI Free Games, and Wysteria if I get crowns!

UPDATE: I actually got my Sultan's Palace last month, so I CAN go to test realm; huge post with pictures coming soon!

Nightshade Drops, Kingsisle Free Games Rewards, Grandmaster Tower, and the Waterworks

I have been farming Lord Nightshade with a friend or two for crown items. If you have no idea what crown items are, they are the rare things that help greatly with health, defense, accuracy, power pip percentage, and damage. Lord Nightshade drops level five crown gear.
Lord Nightshade is probably one of the easier bosses in Wizard City to farm for crown gear. He doesn't have (too) much health, and he does level five spells. I've gotten quite a few crown items from him, as well as the two pets he drops.
What? You mean you haven't seen crown gear due to its rarity? Okay, I'll show you it.
This was me waaaaay back when I was level twenty or so. My hat is the Midsummer's Cowl, my robe the Jacket of Withstanding, and the boots the Watchtower Boots. The Midsummer's Cowl gives a sprite card, the Jacket of Withstanding a tower shield card, and Watchtower Boots give a guiding light card. These level five items don't give damage, accuracy, power pip percentage, or healing boosts. They greatly help shielding and health, though.
Nightshade drops all three of these items. I have gotten all of them at one time or another. Often dropped items come in the most outlandish colors, such as lime green and fuchsia. (Yes, I visited the dye shop for THAT one.) Lord Nightshade also drops two pets: The Midnight Sprite and the Blue Banshee. Midnight Sprites give one dark sprite card at baby. Blue Banshees merely look cool.
I'll warn you now; these are not common drops. I haven't spent several hours fighting Nightshade to only end up with three crown items and five pets. That's total, over the three years I've done the game. It can be done though, so persevere!

One of Wizard 101's most helpful tools is Kingsisle Free Games. This is useful because you can get many nice items from it. You can earn gold, transformations, damage elixirs, blue raptors (a sword), and rare pets!! Remember the Beckett Magazine reward pet, the Fog Unicorn? That rare pet can be a reward! You also can get a Shardtail Dragon. This is such an easy way to get rare items. Did I mention the seven-day Starlight Pony mounts you can get?

I recently helped a friend do the Grandmaster Tower. Back before Celestia and Wintertusk, it was quite an accomplishment to finish this. That's because the bosses in there cheat. It's very difficult. The tower is about ten levels and not a walk in the park. There's only two bosses; Orick Grimcaster, the last one, is the hardest.  You can't trap him, and if you do, he'll pull out three minions to assist him. I asked Alyssa Moonheart, one of my legendary friends and a fellow beta tester, about the tower originally. She told me that you wanted four people to go in, and one of them usually was a Storm wizard to kill off monsters quickly. It went without saying that a second person needed to be Life, or else everyone would die. What an incredible amount of teamwork that would have required! In some ways, today's tower is almost easier. We get used to cheating bosses so the Grandmaster Tower is a blast.

I also finally did the Waterworks, the level 60 version of the Grandmaster Tower. In with me went Alyssa Moonheart, and Destiny Ashdreamer. Both of them had done it before, so they told me what we needed to do. The hardest requirement to get to a boss was the room with the clams. In that room, you have to open all the blue-insided clams. You need to look inside them to see it; trust me, there is a way. You have to look at the mouth for the blue lips. Alyssa, Destiny, and I didn't get all of them open in time, so we got pulled in a fight. The worst boss to fight was Sylster Glowstorm. He has 24,990 health and cheats in a very unique way. Sylster puts up a special doom and gloom that will come back even if you put up an aura. Aside from warning you when you can do what, it also cuts healing in half as usual. When it is white, you can trap him. He needs to have a trap on him at this time.  You can only attack him if there is a trap on him. (Damage over times, or DOTs, aren't recommended.) All traps are removed when he switches it to black. When Sylster turns doom and gloom black, you must blade yourself before you attack. Again, all blades are removed at the end of the doom and gloom. The colors last four rounds at a time, except the first one.
This is what we used to figure out the dungeon: Guide to the Waterworks Instance
It's very accurate, and has great pictures.
Alyssa let me use her Waterworks pictures. Here you go; enjoy!
It's a sun spell being used outside of the deck!!!! This is the only place in the SPIRAL that you see it!!!!
Luska Charmbeak sounded funny and looked pretty cool. I'm not sure about the gravy thing, though...
We have a thing about going for massive damage, if last week's leviathan and this picture didn't clue you in.  Nice hit, Destiny! Go, Chewie! Ki ya phooey! (That's Destiny's battle cry.)
I found this to be the best picture to show the overall look of  the Waterworks. I spent lots of my time trying to catch Destiny's fierce hound, Holly, swimming; those pictures shall come later.

A few things to keep in mind with Grandmaster Tower and Waterworks:
People can't port in.
These are long, hard dungeons.
If your group is dying, don't request to be healed if the healer is almost dead. They need to heal themselves before they can heal you.
Have at least one potion bottle on hand, just in case you need it.
Don't go for green wisps!

Ok, I think that's it for today. Go forth and farm Nightshade, and play Kingsisle Free Games! (Waterworks and Grandmaster Tower are for hardy souls above level fifty.)

Into Jotun's Lair

Since Grizzleheim came out roughly two years ago, it has been my favorite world. My favorite area in here is Nidavellir.
It looks a bit like this.
Wait- wrong file. That's Wintertusk, with me front and center and all over it. THIS is Nidavellir.
This is us about to enter the Hall of Valor, the dungeon where you fight Jotun, a big grendel. I noticed the frost giant for the first time and had to capture it. This also doubles as a nice picture of my friend Amy (the one on the lion). You can also see Alicia, the one on the dragon.
The ceiling is incredible!! You can also see the massive doorways in this picture. I also like the wood carving on the side. And Amy's lion stretching isn't too bad either.

This picture is for the wall. It's pretty blue marble, sapphires, and gold all above wizard height. I also like the decoration on Alicia's cape.
I like the sheer space! It's gorgeous and very ornate. Couldn't this be a house? Please, Wizard 101 creators?
I admit it: This one was purely for fun. What's cooler than a wizard with a sword jumping and appearing to reach the top of a door? And it's sparkly, oooh.
How'd the moon mosaic get up there? I want to have one of those, even if it has to go as a rug!
How about this tile? Intricate design, well carried out, effectively covers a large space... Can't you see it?
Oh no! I'm sounding like Myrella Windspar! She's the lady who shows you homes when you tour them.
The ramp is very nice. The slightly higher up ramp doubles as a rail to slide down. Now I want to see Jotun, Malistaire, Prince Gobblestone, and Lord Nightshade sliding down that.

Go Ice Titans! Crush those fire dragons! Come on, TEAM TITAN!!! It's a rather sad picture, because they couldn't just get along. I think they were siblings or something.
What a throne! I kept trying to get the spiral at the top. That is the best throne I have seen in a looong time.
This is an amazing mosaic, no questions asked. The moon, Bartleby, and  the sun. Then I'm in the middle of it and my horse is grinning for the camera.
If you haven't figured this out, I like doors in Grizzleheim. They are beautiful and would be really hard to open. Maybe that's why the Vikings won lots of sieges; their doors were hard to open so the castle ones were easy.
Meet Alicia's tempest, Lady Isabella. You can't see her due to spritely. She must be blindingly pretty.

This is what I call whopping damage. Alicia didn't critical. I liked her leviathan. Jotun must not have. Leviathans also must hurt because grendels that big don't randomly bellyflop while dueling.
This is the door you enter into the Hall of Valor with. I call it the Eternity Door, because it's huge and must have taken an eternity to build. This was probably the siege practice door- if you can open this, you can open anything.
